THE ART OF THE INDEPENDENT FILM
October 6th – October 10th

Carmel Art & Film will screen at least 50 independent films in at least four different venues over the five day festival. Categories include: feature length, documentaries, shorts, Internet and student films. In addition, we’ll utilize the natural ampitheatre of Carmel’s world famous white sand beach for an incredible night of movies under the stars.

LAUNCH PARTY
Thursday, October 7th

The Festival kicks off with an opening night reception for 600 at the Sunset Center, highlighted by the opening of our photography exhibition and a premiere film screening. The Sunset Center, with its flagstone patios, large
courtyards and gorgeous lobby with soaring ceilings, is the ideal setting for an indoor/outdoor celebration. Enjoy fine wine and food, check out the
fine art photography exhibit, and mingle with artists, photographers and filmmakers.

ART SHOW
Saturday & Sunday October 9th & 10th

This outdoor exhibition, held over two days, is designed to give emerging painters and sculptors a platform to show and sell their work. It is a juried show – an independent panel will choose 30 participating artists. Set up like a marketplace in Carmel’s picturesque Devendorf Park located on Ocean Avenue in the heart of Carmel-by-the-Sea, each artist will be provided a 10’x10’ tent. With stone walkways, a fishpond, shade trees, lush vegetation and public restrooms, the park is a charming oasis in the middle of town.

PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION
Opening reception October 7th

Carmel has a legendary photography history, and this exhibition honors that heritage. Through a juried process, 50 artists will be selected for a month long exhibition at the Marjorie Evans Gallery at the Sunset Center in Carmel, California.

MUSIC
October 6th – October 10th

Music will be incorporated into the festival is a variety of ways. Groups and solo performers will play in our exclusive music cafe. In addition, the festival will be sponsoring concerts feaurting major label acts over the five days. Talent TBA.
